Dean is a qualified Life and Executive Leadership Coach as well as a lay counsellor. He is currently completing a Psychology Degree at UNISA.
Dean has been married to Natalie for 20 years. He has 2 awesome boys, Matthew (16) in grade 11 and Daniel (14) in grade 9, and a beautiful daughter Hannah (8) in grade 3.
Dean has functioned in many roles during his working career. As an educator, life & executive coach, counsellor, community pastor and teen sexuality coach. Dean has more than 15 years experience dealing with family and marital counselling, parental coaching, youth leadership development, personal mastery to name a few.
He is the Chairman of the North West Christian School (NWCS) Governing Council.
Dean has a passion to understand what makes a person tick. To explore the reasons and behaviour associated with choices that people make in their daily lives. His intention in every connection with a person is to be a catalyst of growth, a voice of challenge and a motivator.
Erica is a qualified Educational Psychologist with a Masters degree MEd (Educational Psychology) from Wits University and is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). In 2015 she became an internationally qualified Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T) facilitator.
After obtaining her Master's degree, she joined Emirates Airlines as Cabin Crew where she had the opportunity to live in Dubai, travel the world and work with a very diverse group of people. On her return to South Africa, she worked as an Educational Psychologist at a children's home and then at a school, in 2010 she became involved at Home-Start, an NPO that assists families with young children.
Erica is Passionate about working with children and their families, she has a special interest in childhood bereavement. As a requirement for the completion of the Master's degree, she completed a Research Report where she evaluated a bereavement training programme for volunteers at a Community Centre in Daveyton. The motivation for her research was that many children in the community were suffering from the effects of bereavement due to the loss of a parent from HIV/AIDS, and in some small way I wanted to be part of the solution.
Erica also believes that "when people know better, they do better" and wants to be involved in educating learners and hopefully guiding them to make better informed decisions.
Ian Ferreira has worked in the school environment as a school counsellor for the past 6 years; prior to that he worked as a counsellor at Child Line Port Elizabeth. He served in the South African Police Service as a detective in the SA Narcotic Bureau for 13 years. He has an extensive study and research career and holds various degrees and diplomas; a BA Honours in Therapy, BA Honours in Psychology and he is currently conducting research at Nelson Mandela Metro University in MA Psychology: Research. He is also the owner of ICF Consultancy. He presents workshops and lectures in Nonverbal Behavioural Analysis, CCTV Crime Signal training and Conflict Management. Ian acts as guest lecturer and speaker on many occasions at Nelson Mandela Bay University and Midrand Graduation Institute (Cti) Port Elizabeth.
Anthony has been doing Krav Maga (Self- defence) for the past 15 years and is IKI affiliated and a registered instructor. He is passionate about teaching and transferring his knowledge onto others. The ultimate goal of IKI Krav Maga is your survival against threats and attacks. It is a pure self defence system.
Elmarie has been a social worker for the past 23 years and is the co-chair of the school social work forum. She has worked as the Director of the Chere Botha centre Down Syndrome association and was the acting principal of the Chere Botha school. Elmarie started her private practice in January 2015 and is a practising Neuro Linguistic programming therapist. Elmarie is the founder of the Teahmo social support services which is a non-profit organisation, serves as a ward 8 committee member representing vulnerable persons and children, she has served on the management committee of Oostenberg business chamber and is the secretary of the Steering Committee and Interim governing body of Protea Heights academy a new school in the Western Cape. She recently received training in family and divorce mediation through FAMAC and has 15 years' experience in child development and early intervention programmes.
Tanya has a DPhil (Psychology) from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and has over the past number of years been employed as a senior Psychology lecturer and BPsych Level 4 practicum coordinator at the Pearson Institute of Higher Education (Port Elizabeth campus) (PIHE). During her time at PIHE one of the core modules she lectured was Trauma and Treatment, ensuring she has kept abreast of current developments in the field. Tanya started her independent practice as a counselling psychologist in 2008 and provides psycho-therapeutic services to adult and child clients. During her years in private practice, Tanya has developed a wealth of experience working with a variety of clients which has enabled her to attain the level of expertise required to present our next workshop - Trauma in the school environment.
